Autumn in Bright: Why March to May Is Our Favourite Season

There's something truly magical about Bright in autumn. As the days shorten and the air cools, the town transforms into a kaleidoscope of red, gold, and amber. The elm, oak, and maple trees that line the streets and fill our park put on one of Australia's finest autumn displays.

For us at Camp Crusty, autumn is when the park is at its most beautiful. Our towering elms turn brilliant gold, carpeting the ground in crunchy leaves. The Ovens River runs clear and cool, perfect for a brisk morning dip. And with the summer crowds gone, there's a peacefulness to the trails and town that's hard to beat.

The annual Bright Autumn Festival in late April brings the town to life with markets, live music, and community events. It's the perfect excuse for a long weekend escape. Book early though — our cabins fill up fast for festival weekends. Whether you're walking the Canyon Track, pedalling the rail trail, or simply sitting by the fire with a glass of local wine, autumn in Bright is an experience every Australian should have at least once.
